Yafiq Yusman
Yusman is a photographer who focuses on reflections within his images, making most of them symmetrical. He focuses mostly on reflections through puddles, as can be seen in the images below. His work relates to my ideas as I have looked at reflections in some of my shoots, by looking at Yusmans work, I am able to get inspiration on how to progress further with my ideas on reflections. Through looking at these images, I have gotten the idea of capturing reflections in puddles as well as mirrors and so I am going to focus one shoot on this.
fascinates me because natural occurring symmetry involved creating a symmetrical composition for the image without digital manipulation, but created by a reflection from the puddles on the ground. The symmetrical composition also creates leading lines through the image which draws the viewer’s attention to the silhouette of the fence and this contrasts with the lighting of the sky and the reflection of the sky in the bottom half of the image.
This is also another interesting image by Yusman, displaying natural reflections through water on the ground, again this creates symmetrical composition, making the image look like it has been digitally duplicated. Also, when looking closer at the image, it can be seen that the top part of the image is actually the floor and the image has been rotated 180 degree, however this can hardly be recognised, as the two part of the image are almost identical.
