Greg Sand
Greg Sands photography is inspiring and unique in many ways, when searching for artists on Pinterest who back images with newspaper or texts, I came across Sand who experiments with a number of techniques in his work, however this technique in the selected images is my favourite. As like most of his images, the images in which I have selected took frayed and old, and may not even be his work, but they way he has transformed them, the outcomes have made them his own. I think his technique of cutting the holes in the shape of figures out of the image and replacing that part of the image with a text from either books or newspaper creates a whole different concept. In all of the images I have chosen, the images seem to be taken of a graveyard and the figures that have been cut out and replaced with text make the viewer think that these figures could be the ghosts of those who are buried in the graveyard. By using this technique to create this idea, Sand has made his images a lot stronger and this is what I intend to do with my own. Furthermore, the age in which the images appear to be along with the figures created gives out an eerie atmosphere for the viewer as there is no identities for the figures and the images themselves have been distorted due to their age and this has limited details for the viewer to see.
