Shoot Eight

These are all of the images from my eighth shoot which i think was the shoot in which i created the most successful images out of the whole project. My final images will be from this shoot as they have the best composition out of them all and i think the ideas of the images are quite good. This shoot was taken at a burned down factory in Hartlepool, in which i used this as the background and focused on the model in most of the image as the main subject of the image. I used a Nikon D3100 camera to take these images and i have expanded on my last shoot by using the slow shutter speed, but this time with a different model. I am also used ideas from my sixth shoot by scratching into the images to illustrate the ideas of the images. The ideas of this shoot illustrate the distortion of memories again by the slow shutterspeed, also by adding in the scratching to the image, it gives more mystery to the viewer and shows how the model is feeling.

I think that this is a successful image because of the successful composition, the way that the image has been planned out enhances its appearance. Also, in this image i have not used the slow shutterspeed because i did not think that it would have been relevant with this image because of the lighting on the model, if i had used the slow shutterspeed, then the lighting on the model would have been overexposed and this would have made the image unsuccessful. Furthermore, i used natural lighting when taking the image and this has complimented the composition as it makes the model in the foreground stand out from the background. By scratching into the image, i have  created more suspense for the viewer and this makes the image more interesting as the word "returned" could tell the story of how this abandoned place has come to be that way and why the model is there, but there is only one word so this would make the viewer more interested in the mystery idea of the image.

I think that this image is successful because the slow shutterspeed allows the viewer to see the movement of the model and this creates mystery becasue the viewer cannot see what the model actually looks like and what she is doing. The image represents the idea of someone thinking back to a bad memory in which they cannot remember all of it, hence the movement of the model making her appearance unclear, and the word "lonely" that has been scratched into the image shows that this memory is from a time when the peson was all alone. I think that this image would have beeen more successful if it was not as underexposed, however i think that this adds to the effects of the image and creates a disapointing and unpleasant atmosphere which is what a person thinks of when they think back to a memory in which this image represents.

I am going to use this image as one of my final images because i think that it is very successful because of the different techniques in which i have used to create the final outcome. Firstly, when taking the image, i thought that it would have been a good idea to get the model to stand infront of an old window to give the background more composition, rather that it just being a brick wall, it illlustrates that the model is in a run down place and the the building is no longer used. I also used slow shutterspeed to show th movement in the models head to distort any facial features which would again create mystery for the viewer as the models identity has actually been taken away. Also, i have used photoshop to edit the colours in this image and add noise to the image so that it looks old that it actaully is and so it looks like it has been took on a role of film rather than digitally. Furthermore, i then printed out the image and physically manipulated it by scratching into the image, i scratched "burn it down" as the place in which the shoot was taken was burned down. This links in with beneath the surface because we do not know what the model looks like underneath the movement and we do not know the mystery behind the words.

This image is also going to be one of the images that I use for my final piece as I think that it is very successful. I like the simplicity of the compositionas the background is just a plain brick wall but it can still be seen that the place in which the image was took is a place that is no longer used and is not a pleasant place to be. When taking the image, I used slow shutterspeed to distort the head of the model, this illustrates the memories of the model being distorted as not everything can be seen clearly. Also, the word "fear" that has been scratched into the image enhances the idea of the image and shows that the memory brings fear to the model, posssibly the fear of the unknown. When digitally manipulating this image, I editted the lighting and colours of the image and used sepia to create the older looking style, I also added noise to create more effect in the image.

I like this image because of the angle in which it has been taken, the model is posing in an old window and the rest of the factory can be seen in the background which makes the layout  of the foreground and background look well together. The contrast in this image is between the model and the surrounding area, as the model is dressed presentably and posing for the photograph, but in the background there is an old factory which is literally falling to pieces behind her. The idea of this image is relating to bad memories that an individual can remember very clearly, which is the feeling that they do not belong. I did not use slow shutterspeed or scratch into the image because I knew that, from past experience, the image needs to be kept simple in order for it to be successful.

I like this image because of the way i have captured the model with the slow shutterspeed right in the middle of the image. This is the main suject of the image and is what the viewer should be attracted to when looking at the image. The contrast in this image is the slow shutterspeed creating the blurred movement of the model, contrasted with the sharp focus of the rest of the image. If I was to do this image again, I would alter the aperture so that more light is let intot the camera in the parts of the image that are underexposed, also some of the image (left) is overexposed and so I would manipulate this again to balance out the colours.

This is a successful image from the shoot because it varies from the rest, in the majority of the images, I have captured the movement of the model using slow shutterspeed whereas in this image I have captured the movement of the model but without the slow shutterspeed so that all of the image is in focus. I have done this by the model walking towards me. The location of which this image has been took links in with the idea of the image of the model being out of place, as she is dressed presentably in an abandoned place which is not very presentable, this is the contrast of the image. I have used natural lighting within the image and there are no shadows present to distort the lighting.
