Overlaying
When manipulating this image, I experimented with various techniques to see which effect suited the image best, I changed the colouring of the image to see what impact it would have and whether or not it would change the mood of the image, which I think that it did, the image when it was in a dark effect portrayed a different message to when it was in the lighter effect. I changed the image to black and white to begin with and within the black and white effect, there was the preset which changed the image further and created more of an effect, I experimented with this until I was able to find the most relevant one out of them all.
When manipulating my images, the overlaying technique is something that I wanted to experiment with, so using the image from my first shoot, I created my first overlay. Firstly, I opened the first image in Photoshop, which I then had to edit the colours, saturation etc. to give the final overlay a better effect. I then dragged the second image on top and opened it into a different tab so that the images were separate, which I then edited the second one. Finally, I changed the layer setting so that the transparency of both images would change and each image could be seen in one layer, creating the overlay effect.
This is another successful overlay which I have experimented with, with still life images, again, I have chosen images with different angles of view and different points of focus, giving the manipulated image differentiation and quite a lot of contrast within the final image. I have increased the saturation of all the images within the overlay before putting them together, this has given the image more light and it may be overexposed as some of the objects are a little bright in the image when looking at it as a whole. I think that this image has worked well as the separate images all had consideration of depth of field allowing it to differ with focus in some areas of the image. If I was to do this manipulation again, I would not increase the hue/saturation as much as I have done.
